Purchasing the Correct Golf Equipment

When you begin playing golf you will realize very quickly that there is some very specific equipment you will need. Here are some obvious and not so obvious equipment needs and how to pick the best for you and your game.

You will definitely need golf balls. If you have ever wondered why they are dimpled, it is so that they can travel farther by cutting down on the air drag. All golf balls come with the standard dimples in them and some might have slight variations with the materials used on the inside, however most are exactly the same and only the brand name is different.

You will also need a golf club. Here is where there are so many different types and styles depending on where you are playing and what type of shot you are taking. You will need clubs for sand, grass, and even cement. Most golf bags can hold 14 or 15 golf clubs, so you will want to make sure you have each one that you will need. Professional golfers usually have two full ones, which probably would not be necessary for the casual player. However, having one bag with the different types will be if you want to have a good golf game and not be looking for clubs or playing with a club that does not suite the terrain.

Also, when buying your clubs they come individually and in sets. If you are just starting out then purchasing a set will work because it will have each type of club you will need in it. As you become better than buying individual clubs becomes more practical as your needs change.

There are also golf club covers for the heads of your clubs. These are usually soft and protect the golf club heads from damage. Dents or scratches can ruin your aim and drive shots, so keeping the heads protected even when they are in a bag is still important.

Next, there is the golf bag to hold all your clubs and balls along with many other items that become essential while on the golf course. Many bags have a small cooler attached so you keep water and other drinks cold. They usually have a few pockets for tees, balls, and towels. Some will have enough room for an extra shirt or two and another pair of shoes. You will want to get one that is made well so it does not tear and fall apart from all the weight you have placed in it. However, it should be light when empty so you are not lugging around extra weight of the bag too.

Make sure you have a good pair of golf shoes too. They are not the same as regular shoes and our made specifically for the sport and the terrain you will be playing on. They have rubber spikes on the bottom to help grip the ground while you are playing. You want to have sure footing while playing and golf shoes make sure that happens. Make sure they fit well and our comfortable like any other shoe, since you will be doing a lot of walking in them as well.

You can buy tees or the golf course many times will provide them for you. It is a small usually wooden pin with a larger flat top to set your ball on to tee off.

Lastly, there is the golf cart. Again, the golf courses have these and they can be reserved for your game. They have a place to set your bags and get you from one course to the next without all the walking and strain of the golf bag to deal with.

Golf equipment can be found at any golf store or specialty shop and even the place where you plan to play golf will be able to help. Making sure you have the right equipment for your game will make all the difference.
