Customize Your Golf Clubs

When you began golfing you probably realized quickly that what worked for others may not work for you. Your swing is completely different than any other players. This leads to need for custom clubs, so the player has the exact angle, shaft, grip and size that they need. Getting a custom fit club is not difficult, with a measurements and assessing your game you can have one made in no time.

Many people, even non-professionals, have had their golf clubs custom made. When the club is made, it is being designed specifically for your swing and height. So, regardless of your ability as a golf player, having a custom golf club made for you will improve your game. Here are the basics of custom golf club creation.

Your stats are needed to begin the process, so:

gender, male or female - gender is needed because within the industry there are standard lengths based on being male or female.

age - this helps determine swing strength.

height with no shoes - height because after determining the standard length, it will then be adjusted based on your actual height.

the distance from your wrist to the floor. Again, with no shoes on.

There is a range of difference with golf clubs of 3 1/2 inches for women and 1 1/2 inches for men. People with long arms will require shorter clubs, while people shorter arms will require longer clubs.

If you have any handicaps (you may not have one. If you do not, that is fine):

skill level

speed of your swing

the club you have been using at 150 yards

The last three, along with handicaps and age are then combined and help determine how much flex there should be in club.

Custom fitting can improve your slice, by changing the face of the club and making the club more upright.

Taking your floor to wrist distance, height, and hand size helps determine what size club you should use and the angle it should be to the ground.

One way is to put tape on the bottom of your club and then do swings over a piece of wood, wherever the wood leaves a mark on the tape will tell the designers how the club should be designed.

There is of course analysis equipment too. These can measure quite a few things, such as:

club speed

side spin of the ball

distance

launch angle

amount of backspin

strength of impact

If you decide to have your golf clubs customized, you can leave your old clubs at home. It will actually be easier to start from the beginning and have a set created for you. However, you can have slight adjustments made to your clubs if you do not want to spend the money on an entirely new set.

Custom golf clubs will not necessarily make you a professional player, but they will improve your game. They are a bit more costly than standard clubs. However, if you are already planning on buying new clubs, then investing a little more money is definitely worth it. Or if you have recently bought new clubs, getting them re-adjusted by the manufacturer is not usually a problem. Either way, custom clubs may just give you the edge you have been looking for.
